Why you should vote in the October 2026 municipal election ...

... because councillors make decisions about how taxpayers' dollars are spent and the
elected individual should possess a relevant educational background with experience
in managing finances to make responsible choices with municipal public resources.

... because we need our city to take more action in protecting our environment; local
green spaces - more trees, shrubs and pollinator flowers to support biodiversity.  We must
preserve parks, wetlands, and tree canopies to reduce the “urban heat island effect.”

... because we want our city to promote sustainable transport and energy, and safe,
connected networks for walking and cycling.  The 2022 York Region Master Transportation
Plan must continue in its mandate to include all developments as set out in the report.
City upgrades should include converting all street lights to high-efficiency LED fixtures and
installing electric-car plug-in stations in municipal parking lots. Water conservation is to be
encouraged by adding smart outdoor watering schedules and by using recycled water to
clean out sewage lines.

... because we want councillors to engage and work closely with the community and
neighbourhood groups, including seniors and youth, to encourage school programs,
to help maintain clean parks, streams, and public spaces. Council must also support and
promote local food markets and farmers' markets to reduce the transport emissions of food.

... because we need safer streets and homes, a stronger community connection, and

established neighbourhood watch programs where residents are encouraged to be
informed about local safety issues.

... because we must support small business ventures in our city to encourage and maintain
entrepreneurs and their enterprises, especially when faced with challenging economic conditions.
